Terms of Service

1. The Service

Fahrzeugschein24 reads German vehicle registration documents (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I) and returns the contained information as structured data — through a browser playground and through an API. An optional add-on checks uploaded documents for signs of manipulation, AI-generated images and cross-document duplicates. The Service is a software aid: extraction results may contain errors and must be reviewed before you rely on them for legal, financial or safety-relevant decisions.

2. Accounts & eligibility

The Service is intended for business and professional use. You must provide accurate registration details, keep your credentials and API keys confidential, and are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Acceptable use

You may only upload and process documents for which you have a lawful basis and the necessary rights. You must not use the Service to infringe third-party rights, to process documents unlawfully, to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service, or to exceed the technical limits of your plan. We may suspend access in case of misuse, security risk or non-payment.

4. Plans, quotas & billing

The free plan is provided for evaluation and is limited to 15 extractions per month. Paid plans include a monthly extraction quota; usage beyond it is billed per additional extraction at your plan's rate. Billing happens in arrears at the end of each billing period: the plan's base fee plus any extractions above the quota; nothing is charged at sign-up. Unused extractions expire at the end of the billing period. Current plans, quotas and prices are listed on the pricing page. Prices are in euro and exclude statutory VAT unless noted otherwise. Documents uploaded on the free plan are stored and used by us to improve our recognition (section 5a); on paid plans they are not.

5. Customer data & data processing

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy (/privacy). Where we process personal data contained in documents on your behalf, we act as a processor and a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR applies (/avv). Documents are hosted in Germany and processed on servers within the EU. On paid plans, uploaded images are processed in memory only and are not stored; uploads on the free plan are subject to section 5a.

5a. Uploads on the free plan

(1) Documents you upload after this version has taken effect while your account is on the free plan are stored by us and used to train, test and improve our recognition. For this purpose you grant us, in these documents and in the data extracted from them, a free-of-charge, non-exclusive right to store, reproduce and process them for these purposes for the retention period under paragraph 3; recognition models trained with them may continue to be used by us after that period as well. We do not pass the documents on to third parties; service providers we engage for this act only on our instructions.

(2) The plan at the time of upload is decisive. Documents you upload on a paid plan – including after a cancellation or during a payment delay up to the end of the current billing period – are neither stored nor used for these purposes; the same applies to accounts with individually agreed terms, such as agreed PDF output. After a paid plan ends, we store no uploads for at least 30 days; only after that does paragraph 1 apply if your account continues on the free plan.

(3) We keep documents under paragraph 1 for up to five years from upload, even if you later switch to a paid plan, delete your account or object to the use. You ensure that you may also transmit the documents to us for this purpose. If no documents should be stored, use a paid plan.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, its software and content remain our property or that of our licensors. You retain all rights to the documents you upload and to the structured data extracted from them. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for the term of your subscription. The rights under section 5a remain unaffected.

7. Availability & warranty

We work to provide a reliable Service but do not warrant uninterrupted availability or that extraction results are complete or error-free. Except where mandated by law, the Service is provided "as is".

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are only liable for breach of a material contractual obligation, limited to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage. Any further liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law; mandatory liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

9. Term & termination

Paid plans have a billing period of one month. It starts on the day you sign up and renews for another month at a time unless cancelled; there is no minimum term. You may cancel at any time without notice, effective at the end of the current billing period, yourself in the dashboard under “Billing”; plan changes are made there as well. Until the cancellation takes effect your plan remains usable with its full quota; for that last billing period the base fee and any extractions above the quota are invoiced, and no further costs arise. Your account then continues on the free plan; whether uploads are stored is then governed by section 5a(2). You end the free plan, and with it the contract as a whole, by deleting your account. We may terminate or suspend access for material breach. On termination your right to use the Service ends; data handling follows the Privacy Policy and the DPA, and for documents from the free plan section 5a, also beyond the end of the contract.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. The current version is always available on this page; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Where permitted, the place of jurisdiction is Hamburg. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
